미술적 창의성에 대한 탐구

A Study on Visual Artistic Creativity

관조자, 제 3자의 입장에서가 아니라 미술적 창조가 발생하고 창조적 작업에 관여한 실제 느낌과 미술가들의 진술에 근거해서 미술적 창의성, 미술적 창의성의 요소, 미술적 창의성의 특징 등을 탐구하였다. 우선, 미술가와 대상과의 만남이 이루어져 합일된 상태가 미술적 창의성이 발현된 상태라고 주장했다. 그리고 만남이 이루어졌다는 증거로 몰입을 들었다. 몰입의 상태, 즉 강렬성과 정열은 미술가와 대상의 독창적이고 새로운 만남을 자연스럽게 드러내기 때문이다. 미술적 창의성의 요소로 두 가지를 거론하였는데, 하나는 헌신이고 다른 하나는 전(全)사고다. 미술적 창의성의 특성은 ‘우연적 발견’, ‘지식발견’, ‘샘솟는 환희’, ‘종합적 발견’, ‘뜨거운 감성’에 보다 의지한다는데 있다고 주장하였다. 창의성의 일반 정의들이 결과물의 질이나 능력에 초점을 두고 있는 반면 예술가 그룹의 미술적 창의성에 대한 정의는 창의적인 결과를 만들어내는 내적 성향, 즉 의식의 고양상태를 강조하는 특성을 가지고 있다.

The purpose of this study was to explore the definition of artistic creativity through experiential feelings, anecdotal statements and studies on creativity of artists. First, artistic creativity is the powerful and alive encounter between the artist and his or her world. The encounter make the two become one. The sign of encounter is the flow. Therefore without flow the creativity can't manifest itself. Second, I raised dedication and multi-dimensional thinking as the elements of artistic creativity. Creative people use personal and intuitive tools for thinking to achieve their insights, resorting only in an explicitly secondary step to translating their personal knowledge into a formal language in order to communicate with other people(Root-Bernstein, 2001, 2002, 2003; Root-Bernstein & Root-Bernstein, 1999). Finally, I insisted that artistic creativity more rely on the serendipity, the discovery of knowledge, the ecstasy, the holistic discovery, and the emotion than the intentional discovery, the existing knowledge, the perseverance, the partial discovery, and the reason. The former is the characteristics of artistic creativity. While the definition of creativity focus on the capability of person and the quality of the product, artistic creativity stress on person's inner disposition, that is enhanced consciousness. This study is about the definition of artistic creativity focused on person's inner disposition.
