A Diachronical Study on the Conjugated Forms in Korean-Focused on the formation process of the ‘-었-(-ət)’

The purpose of this paper is to study on the generated process of the tense morpheme ‘-었-(-ət-)’ in the 15-16th century. At the same time, I checked reaction of conjugated forms that contain the ‘-었-(-ət-)’. ‘-었-(-ət-)’ is said to follow a process of ‘-어#잇-(-ə#it-)>-엣-(-əjt-)>-었-(-ət-)’. In this process, a ‘이(i)’ vowel string constraint and a semi-vowel j deletion occur, and a morphological reanalysis happens continuously. But the semi-vowel j deletion isn't the leading phenomenon of those days. This shows that new change occurs regardless of the leading phonological phenomenon, when a certain grammatical motive is allowed. Also, this shows that new change happens within a regulation of a paradigm.(Dong-A University)
