The funeral culture on the lower Nakdong River has studied through the analysis on 17 relics of tombs in the Joseon Era around the Nakdong River area. As a result, the main longitudinal axis of tombs showed the most rate of 43% for northeast and southwest, but there are many tombs in northwest - southeast, south-north, and east-west directions. Furthermore, this phenomenon is shown similarly in all 17 relics without any phenomenon to intensely show in one direction only. on the contrary, the number of tombs directly perpendicular to the contour line has the characteristics to directly perpendicular to the contour line for all 531 tombs without 4 tombs parallel to the contour line regardless of the relics. This is the similar phenomenon shown in the tombs of Goryeo that, unlike the earlier Three Kingdoms Era with the tombs parallel to the contour line, the establishment of tomes in directly perpendicular to the contour line was shown to begin in the Goryeo Era to fully settled in the Joseon Dynasty. Furthermore, the head direction is generally toward the mountain peak part with the higher contour line. However, in the process, it preferred the longitudinal axis of south - north. In addition, burial was mostly made for single burial rather than the joint burial for husband and wife together. And, the tomb shapes are mostly Togwangmyo (pit tombs) and Mokgwanmyo(wooden coffin tombs), rather than Hoegwakmyo (lime-soiled mixture tombs). In addition, the length of the tombs is mostly in the range of 150~250cm. And, the relics form the regular shapes to bury with the brass spoons or coins.(Dong-A University)
