The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between parents' cultural sensitivity and their children's reading activities. To achieve the objective of the study, three statistical procedures were performed, which include factor, cluster, and ANOVA analyses. Results reveal that parents' cultural sensitivity influences (1) how parents choose English storybooks for their children, (2) why parents believe reading English storybooks is helpful, and (3) how parents and children practice reading activities. For this study, parents were clustered into three groups in terms of which culture(s) they perceived most important from among three sets of identifiable cultures: our own culture, the target language culture, and the world culture. The group who understood all three sets of cultures, and who considered all three cultures equally important, had the highest level of cultural sensitivity. It was determined that this group of parents had a better perceived goal of the chosen books and used a variety of reading activities when compared with the other two groups. The study implicates that English storybooks for children are good resources and allow parents to teach selected materials at home and school especially when parents and teachers have high cultural sensitivity.
