This study explores the processing of the Spanish predication structure by native Korean learners of L2 Spanish. Many Korean students learning Spanish are accustomed to establishing a predication relation between subject and verb. It is why many L2 learners recognize that the interpretation of a proposition is realized only in the clausal structure composed of subject and verbal phrase. But, in fact, various lexical categories of predicate such as adjective, bare noun and nominal phrase and prepositional phrase can occur in Spanish predication structures. And it is general sentence processing to use the predication structure composed of non-inflected predicates for adult L1 native speakers. on the contrary, many L2 learners prefer and overgenerate the clausal predication with inflected verb rather than using reduced structure of L1 Spanish. The present study investigated this performance tendency and the error in second language sentence processing from two perspectives. on one hand, it is possible for Korean L2 Spanish learners to transfer the language-specific L1 processing strategies to the L2. on the other hand, It is suggested that L1 Spanish speakers as well as L2 Spanish learners have difficulty in syntactic processing of the predication structure with non-inflected predicates.
