Tea Culture of Huizhou Merchant in the Ming Qing Dynasty

In the Ming Qing dynasty, according to the development of economics, existing systems of tradition collapsed. Social changes such as population movement and concentration, development of cities, sumptuous moods, system relaxation and changes in values occurred. Many leaders and literary men indulged in artistic activities such as poetry, painting and calligraphy, so as to make their life more enjoyable. Especially, tasting tea was one such activity. The Ming Qing dynasty was a very important period in tea culture history. At that time many famous teas were being created. Teas were grouped into six groups, people began to savor the taste and flavor of tea. Huishang constructed economic networks at that times as a merchant and literary men. As such, Huishang were able to combine economics and Confucianism successfully. They took a great role in the chinese culture. Huishang supported Jiannan literaryman firancially. Huishang played a large role in tea-related business and tea distribution. Huishang also got involved in making famous tea, making Yixing zishahu and Jingdezhen white ceramics. Many literary men who made artworks, documents, poems, paintings and calligraphic works were concerned with Huishang. Huishang not only played a great role in tea-related business and tea distribution but also played an importnant part in tea culture. They were the leading actors in the history of tea culture. Huishang's role in the tea history is worth while to discuss.
