Calvin emphasizes the attributes or the properties of the Holy Spirit as the Life-Giver in dealing with the working and operation of the order of salvation. With reference to the power and efficacy of the Holy Spirit Calvin points out the mediation of Christ whose Spirit has come into us and is living in us. Calvin frequently uses the concept of“the Spirit of Christ”in order to explain the secret illumination and persuasion of the Holy Spirit for the children of God who are reckoned as the righteous by the imputation of the merit of Christ. For Calvin, the communion and communication of the believers is regarded as signifying each believer's union with Christ. The mystica unio cum Christo does not denote any infusion or communication of quality at all. In all, Calvin's teaching of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Christ is deployed by the continuous mediation of Christ as the Mediator who fulfilled His office and proclaimed it in the cross. Calvin's view of the continuity and unity of the church is based on that of Christ the Mediator working through the every stage of the ecomony of the salvation history. As the Mediator, Christ is working extra nos(beyond us) and intra nobis(within us). Christ is working as the King at the heavenly seat because He fulfulled the salvific work of redemption as the vicarious offering. Christ's kingship signifies none other than His offering Himself as the Spirit. So, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit signifides Christ's living within us as the Mediator. This is the essence of Calvin's understanding of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Christ.
