Education was one of the upmost priorities in Augustine's life. He never stopped learning nor educating. Not suprisingly, the church education system began to be formulated during Augustine's era. This article endetails his life and its integration with study and ministry, including a discussion of his most excellent writing about education, De doctrina Christiana. So that the lay person may understand, De doctrina Christiana describes the general issues concerning education within four volumes. Augustine asserts that when educating, one must first understand and inturn teach others. He emphasizes that the ultimate goal of education is to understand the Bible and deliver the understanding to others. Here, Augustine emphasizes that the Trinity is the core of education. Christians equipped with secular knowledge can avoid the tragic situations of a life without God. Knowledge exists as both a sign and symbol. As a sign, knowledge is again classified into natural signs and conventional signs. Language is the most important conventional sign. To understand the Scripture, language training is a priority. The general themes of Augustine's book discussed in this article are that education should be God-centered, Scripture-cenered, and realistic education, and that great significance of delivery must be acknowledged.
