The Importance of Cultural Transformation in Old Testament : A Claim for Transformation of Sexual Culture in Lev. 18

The purpose of this article is to insist importance of cultural transformation by analysis Lev. 18 which is to speak about transformation of sexual culture. The ultimate mission of all Christian is to set up the distinguishing the holy culture of God from the secular culture in the world. I considered the biblical interpretation as basis of cultural transformation using‘the levels of cultural transformation’by Paul G. Hiebert. I insisted that biblical interpretation give us the basis for cultural transformation and the bible is the ultimate authority of faith and life. I studied the interrelation of Lev.18 and 2 King 17 and Ezekiel 22. In the Lev. 18, God commanded Israelites to set up holy sexual culture to distinguish with Egyptians and Canaanites, and warned to exile them when they refused to obey the word of God and followed sexual culture of Egyptians and Canaanites. This is the mission for Israel and same time the warning which God gave to Israel. 2 King 17 reported the downfall of north Israel and Ezekiel 22 declared the destruction of Jerusalem. These two texts remind us Lev. 18. So, I insisted that Lev. 18 is the warning of God and these two texts are a fulfillment of Lev. 18's warning. In basis of this, I insisted the importance of mission of all Christians for cultural transformation in the world.
