'Mopsi (very)' in Contemporary Korean has its origin in 'mot (not) +psu-(use)+-i (adverbial suffix)' from Middle Korean. It was also used in Middle Korean, but at that time the meaning of 'mopsi' was 'unusable'. It was inflected form of verb 'motpsu-(no-good)'. Some dictionaries suggest'mopsuy', but this is a mistake. In Modern Korean the meaning of 'mopsi' was 'badly', this is why 'mopsi' was rarely used with words which have positive meaning. In Contemporary Korean, 'mopsi' is an adverb which represents degree.
