Brain Neurologic Disorder and Depression in Elderly

To help understanding of depression in elderly with stroke, Alzheimer's demen-tia and parkinson's disease, the authot reviewed the articles and books in this area. Depression is a very popular symptom of elderly patients but neurologic conditions make it elderly who have neurological disease. Even though various research obstacles in this area, depression in elde-rly with neurologic diseases (stroke, Alzheimer's dementia, and Parkinson's disease) could be a gateway of understanding of pathophysiology of depressive disorder perse. In this article, epidemio-logical study, pathophysiological study, symptomatology and treatment consideration were inten-sively review and summarized. The more constructed and systematized studies are needed to understand the depression in elderly with stroke, Alzheimer's dementia and Parkinson's disease.
