The Social Enterprises and the role of government

This study shows that the policy of promoting social enterprise should be improved. Social enterprises might be regarded as an alternative economic system. In Europe, civil society may continue to be the main force behind social enterprise. However, state sectors are the impetus behind social enterprise in Korea. Korean government has supplied direct wage subsidies for social enterprises in fixed terms and it has helped many social enterprises. The role of government should change strategically from direct supporter to indirect one and the future of social enterprises will depend on the supply factors such as social entrepreneurs, donors. The interest in social enterprise should be substantial problem to foster and support plans to start from the review of the possibility for government to develop into social enterprise. In regard to the interaction between social enterprise and civil society, social enterprise supporting agencies are considered. In the discussion of government support, the social enterprise promotion act and the administration of government-sponsored service agencies are mentioned.
