The Job and the Self-realization: Concerning the Work Ethics

이 논문의 목적은 소비 지향적 현대 문화 속에서 다른 한편으론 갈수록 치열해지는 취업의 좁은 문을 뚫어야하는 현재 대학생들에게 적합한 직업관과 노동윤리의 모델을 탐색하는데 있다. 탈산업사회의 도래와 함께 그 지배력을 상실한 것으로 판단되는 프로테스탄트 노동윤리는 그럼에도 노동의 내재적 가치를 추구한다는 점에서 현재에도 그 영향력을 완전히 상실한 것은 아니다. 한편 이 논문에서는 노동의 내재적 가치란 자아실현에 있다는 관점에서 프로테스탄트 이후의 노동윤리를 검토했다. 전문 직업을 통한 여성의 자아실현을 주장하는 프리단의 경력주의와 좋은 삶의 조건으로서 온전한 자아실현이란 자율적 노동을 통해 가능하다고 주장하는 엘스터와 슈바르츠의 논의를 살펴보았다. 특히 슈바르츠는 자율적 노동은 이를 가능케 하는 적합한 노동조건이 전제되어야 함을 주장한다. 노동과 직업의 의미가 자아실현에 있다고 할 때, 그러한 자아실현을 구성하는 요건에는 사회적인 연관이 전제되어 있다. 공공선이 결여된 자아실현이란 공허할 수밖에 없을 것이다. 이런 견지에서 이 논문에서는 덕의 윤리를 주장하는 매킨타이어의 실천 개념에 따라 정의롭고 적합한 직업의 기준과 의미를 검토했다.

This Thesis aims at investigating the model of the just work and the work ethics, which is fit for students who strive to gain works in a consuming, low-employment society. With coming of the post-industrial society, the protestant work ethics is in the peril of losing the ruling power thoroughly, but still has the effect. And this thesis examines the post protestant work ethics in the point of view that the immanent value of working lies in the self-actualization. Freedan's careerism asserts that in order to self-actualization the women ought have the professional job. Elster and Schwarz claims that as the condition of the good life the self actualization be possible only through the autonomous work. Especially, in Schwarz's claim, the autonomous work condition must be necessary if the autonomous work is possible. When the meaning of works and jobs lies in the self-actualization, its social meaning is premised. It is not possible to achieve the self-actualization without the coomon good. In this respect, this thesis investigate a criterion and a meaning of the just work according to MacIntyre's concept of the practice in the base of the virtue ethics.
