The study of Jo nam-ik's poetry

As you know Jo nam-ik is the representative poet in Chung Cheong-Do. But his poetic study is inadequate now. That's because he is a local poet. Therefore the main purpose of this paper is to study Jo's poetry. Jo has been writing the poems for 50 years. His poetic world is various with the long period. First, he shows loyalty of Baekje and Joseon in his poetry. Second, he reveals drifting people through the place name and historical events of Buyeo and Chung Cheong-Do. Third, He shows self discovery and self pity through the relationship of his family and literary friends. To the sum, his loyalty, drifting people and self pity boil down to nostalgia and historical consciousness. Jo was born and grew in Buyeo. And he has lived in Buyeo and another district in Chung Cheong-Do. So he is Buyeo resident and Buyeo poet. Especially his hometown, sugori is poetic god's hometown which contains a basic life and native spirit. Thus his hometown, sugori and Buyeo, the old capital of Baekje are his lifelong poetic theme. I think hometown is a good old place. It is a friendly place which heals our body and soul. But modern people forget their hometown on the pretext of busyness. Hometown is a place which regains their own selves. I want modern people to recover their mental hometown with Jo's poetry and hope many scholars to study his poems.
