This paper looks at the background of the debate regarding the U.S. House Resolution concerning the "comfort women" issue, which has been receiving attention as of late, in the context of Northeast Asia's historical controversy and Japan's handling of post-war issues, with the purpose of revealing the implication in has within the US-Japan relationship and the Northeast Asian regional order. In this interest, as an introductory study, it first looks at the meaning of the comfort women issue in the context of Northeast Asia's historical controversy and Japan's domestic politics. Then, it analyze the outlook of the U.S and Japan's recent tendencies regarding the comfort women issue and the adoption of the US House Resolution. Finally with this basis, it studies the meaning the comfort women issue has in US-Japan relations and Northeast Asia's regional order.
