A Study on Concessive Endings for Korean Language Education

It is not easy for not only foreign speakers but also native speakers to use conjunctive endings correctly in Korean. That is because Korean language has so many conjunctive endings and the meanings of the conjunctive endings are varying. Therefore, if a conjunctive ending is not spoken correctly, the intended meaning will not be successfully conveyed. For this reason, conjunctive endings have played an important role in the Korean language teaching, but the study of conjunctive endings has not fully taken placed. This study focuses on teaching concessive-conjunctive endings. Firstly, this study clarifies the concept of concession, and selects concessive-conjunctive endings for Korean language teaching. Secondly, this study organizes the hierarchy of concessive-conjunctive endings for Korean language teaching after defining the syntactic, semantic, pragmatic traits of the concessive-conjunctive endings.
