《十抄诗》与晚唐五代巴蜀文学

Shichaoshi and Bashu Literature from Late Tang to Five Dynasties

  • 2

Edited in Korea during the Koryo period, Shicheoshi is an anthology of Chinese poems composed by poets in the Tang period. This selection of Tang poetry consists of 300 poems, all in the form of octave of seven words, authored by 30 poets, with every ten poems for each poet. Since one hundred and two poems among the included works are now utterly lost in China, the anthology is invaluable in the study of Tang and Five Dynasties literature. In particular, it contains several Bashu poets such as Li Yuan, Yong Tao, and Li Xiong. While these poems in it have become the rarest materials you cannot come by anywhere else, they are of course essential to studying the regional literature of Bashu, its writers, their works, and its literary milieu. After analyzing their poems in the anthology with the help of A Commentary on Shichsoshi (commentary by Shi Zi Shan, and edited by Cha Ping Qiu), the present author succeeds in obtaining some results as follows: First, the life of Li Yuan and Yang Tao, their career and literary circle. Second, the form and contents of the poetry of Li Yuan and Yang Tao. Third, the contemporary literary milieu suggested in Li Xiong’s poems. Fourth, the value of the anthology in the study of Tang and Five Dynasties literature.
