After conquered by Koguryo, 494, Puyo, one of the ancient states in Korea, was disappeared in the history of Korea.. however, Puyo descendants founded their new state, called Dumakru, on the north bank of Songhua river. In this article, I tried to attempt not only to reorganize historical documents about Dumakru, but also to reassess cultural heritage of Dumakru. Dumakru was a state founded by Puyo ethnic group, lived in the great plains of Songliao and Songnun. Dumakru means restoration of ancient territory in Koguryo and Puyo languages. Therefore, Dumakru can be recognized as a state in which Puyo descendants recovered their ancestor’s lost territory. According to historical documents, Dumakru was located on the north of Mulgil tribe and on the east of Silwi. This indicates that today vast areas between east of Sonun plains and north of Songliao plain must be the territory of Dumakru. Both culture and social system of Dumakru were very similar to those of Puyo and Koguryo. That’s because in many ways Dumakru could be succeeded their ancester’s heritage of Poyo and accepted sociocultural custom of Koguryo. Dumakru was lastly documented on the historical records in the year of A.D. 724. At this year diplomatic officials of Dumakru visited to the Chinese court. After this episode, Dumakru was no more appeared on the historical documents in China and Korea. At this time, it seems to be that Dumakru must be occupied by Huksu Malgal and Balhai.
