China’s Ethnic policy and Transformation of Korean Society

Since the reform and opening-up, Chinese Korean society has undergone tremendous changes. Large amount of population movements led to many problems, such as the shrinking of traditional dwelling areas, the weakening of ethnic education and the disappearance of ethnic culture. Considering the above-mentioned problems, this paper examines Chinese government’s efforts to solve ethnic problems, and discusses how Chinese Korean society maintains their own identity and achieves self-development within the framework of China. In conclusion, this paper claims that Chinese Koreans must work hard to get into the mainstream society, improve their economic strength and spend more in culturing ethnic professionals to maintain ethnic identity, preserve and develope ethnic culture and secure ethnic position.
