A Studies on the relations of Late-Baekje Jeonju and China Jeonju(中國 全州)

  • 238

In this study I investigate place name of China Jeonju(中國全州) and Korea Late-Baekje Jeonju(後百濟全州). In this process I discovered that the names of two region are very similar and same. For example, Jeonju(全州), Wansan (完山), Girinsan(麒麟山=麒麟峯), Kumsan Temple(金山寺) are same name and so significance in two place. So I investigate this relations and the reason, and compare two region. First, the name of Jeonju in Korea was begun in the Unified Shilla(統一新羅) Period at 757. But in China it originated at 939 by Mahibum(馬希範), who was the China local governor. The year of 939 was after 3years later when the fall of the Late-Baekje(後百濟, 892-936) Second, the region of China Jeonju was related with Late-Baekje. So I conclude that the Late-Baekje displaced persons(後百濟遺民) seek asylum on the China. And the displaced persons took part in the conduct of china local-state affairs. Mahibum(馬希範), the China local governor adopt so many people in China internal confusion. So I presume that the Late-Baekje displaced persons were employed by Mahibum and some of them introduced the name of Jeonju(全州) and other name. The bases of this inferences upon the follows. In the Unified Shilla(統一新羅) Period, Zen priest(禪宗僧侶) went to the China to study Zen. The most famous place Honam(湖南) was so close Jeonju place, and zen prifst Hyung Mi(逈微) met Maeun(馬殷), who was the father of Mahibum(馬希範). So I conclude that the name of Jeonju(全州) in China was originated by Korea Late-Baekje Jeonju(後百濟全州) displaced persons.
