This research provides a broad framework for better appreciation and resolution of the territorial dispute over Dokdo by having interviews with Dr. Kaiyan Homi Kaikobad. He is one of the highly reputed foreign authorities on public international law relating to territorial acquisition and loss. The main issues of discussion with Dr. Kaikobad are as follows: perspectives of the third world on Dokdo issue; appraisal of the Special Message by President Roh, Moo-hyun on Korea-Japan Relations; legal status of Dokdo in 1905; map evidence; the activities of Ahn, Yong-bok; SCAPIN No.677; legal status of Dokdo in the San Francisco Peace Treaty; critical date; current international jurisprudence on territorial disputes formulated by international judicial bodies; and, reference of the Dokdo dispute to third party adjudicative bodies, including adversarial litigation or arbitration.
