This study reveals that the Chinese government is trying to distort Koguryu’s history irrationally for the political purpose of blocking the claim of proprietorship from Korea under the guise of DongBookGongJong. The first King of Koryo dynasty declared that Koryo dynasty was a nation which inherited Koguryo dynasty in AD 918 and decided that it was one of the important tasks to recover the lost Koguryo’s land. This fact is enough to give supporting evidence for the claim that it is incorrect that the Chinese government claims that Koryo had no national relation with Koguryu. Koryu’s King Yejong’s policy of conquering Yo-Jin was founded on inheritance sense of Koguryo and retrieval of Koguryo land. The building of nine castles and Gonghumjin monument led to the decision that the national boundary between Koryo and Geum was Sunchoonryoung. Whenever the controversy over land between Korea and China arose, Sunchoonryoung has been used as evidence for North boundary. Even in Chinese history books, Koguryo and Koryo have been reported to be closely related nations since O-dae age. Since the foundation of Koryo dynasty, most of its leading group from Gae-gyong and Pae-so area had preserved the tradition of Koguryo for a long time. Moreover, Koguryo and Koryo had common features in life and culture. We shoud note that King, Se-jong derived the agreement from Myong’s JooWonJang that South Sunchoonryoung belongs to Cho-sun, on the other hand, North Sunchoonryoung belongs to Yo-dong. Therefore, a thorough study of Gan-do district in the perspective of history and geography is a good solution to the problem of the ownership of Gan-do between Korea and China.
