Chosun’s reception for the diplomatic delegation of the Ming Dynasty was the chiefly great state affair in the diplomatic relations of Chosun Dynasty. In the Course of this, the provincial people’s life of Pyeongan-do(平安道) was an endless chain of the sufferings owing to their reception. Above all, most of the regional people had played a leading role of the reception as well as the bodyguard of the diplomatic delegation at the province of uiju(義州). when the regional people of uiju received the delegation, they rejected the ming envoy’s demands without hurting Chosun’s national honor. If the ming delegation made a demand of a rare thing which Chosun had difficulty in finding such as silver and horse, it had difficult for the Chosun government to soothe these demands. But this system of diplomatic relation properly functioned as the Chosun government’s benefits between the necessity of the bodyguard for the ming envoys and the interests of Chosun merchant. On the other hand, the Chosun government did seek to set up the organization of a convoy troops, in order to secure both the two countries - the Chosun’s delegation which sent to the Ming government by the chosun government and the Ming’s envoys which sent by its government, In principle the Chosun government enlisted its people from Pyeongan-do for the convoy troops, because of the matter in some distance away. On that score, what most of provincial people’ from Uiju county took part in Hosonggun(護送軍) was caused both regional trait and hosonggun’s interest. The size of Hosonggun remained unchanged, except a grave situation. But on that occasion when considerable personages in both the two country were in communication each other country and especially when the conflict of the Jurchen(女眞) made appearance at the province of Liaotung(遼東) in the 15 Century, the relationship between the Chosun and the Ming had no choice but to increase the number of persons in Hosonggun. This circumstance did the widespread and direct damage to the provincial people from Pyeongan-do. Besides such a matter, another matter was that the Ming envoy’s private things named injungmul(人情物) - diplomatic present which gave to the ming envoys by the Chosun government as diplomatic usage - was transferred by Hosonggun. As time goes by, Hosonggun’s grave task was changed the inherent bodyguard into the porter or the conveyance of the Ming envoy’s baggage. these superficial change of Hosonggun’s role encouraged the illicit article deals or the smuggling for merchant of Seoul. Because The problem about the boundary between the two countries had left unsettled and there was a vacant space between the two countries, the extracurricular activities of Hosonggun such as the illicit article deals, were caused by diplomatic relations between the two countries.
