The Pungnabtoseong is one of the earthern walls in an early Baekche Kingdom. This wall is about 3.5km in length and oval in shape. So far, seven wells were excavated in Baekche area. Among them two wells were unearthed in the Pungnabtoseong. In this article, I try to review the structure and characteristic of wells in Pungnabtoseong. First, these wells in Pungnabtoseong were related with not only water control systems but also building structures. Therefore, the wells were connected such as moat, ditch, drain pump, and so on. And some buildings were constructed near water systems. Second, the structure of wells excavated in the Pungnabtoseong was V-shape in lateral and 井-shape in plane. The wells were dug until revealed level of pebbles on the bottom. The wells were built by piling up the square wooden clubs. Third. archaeological remains like pot sherd and wooden materials were excavated inside the wells. Decorations such as straw rope design, checkered pattern, and bird-feet figure were appeared on the surface of potteries. In conclusion, the Pungnabtoseong was regarded as a palace wall of an early Baekche Kingdom. Therefore, it is possible that Pungnabtoseong had a highly planned palace system so that the structure and location of walls were closely related with palace construction plan. The organized features of walls and excavated remains were testified the plan.
