Through the study of the ancient Korean history with emphasis on her continental aspects, the author attempts to bring light to the activities of Koreans in Manchuria during the ancient period. The study is arranged into six parts. The first parts sets the details of geographical and ethnological distributions of Manchuria. The second part examines the dawning of the Manchurian history : The invasions of the Ch’in (秦) and Yen (燕) dynasty, the founding of Wiman Choson (衛滿朝鮮) and establishment of Han-sa-gun (漢四郡 : four counties of the Han dynasty). In third part, particu lar attention is given to the fact that the rising of t he Puyo(夫餘) and Kokuryo (高句麗) dynasty. The fourth part illustrates the situations of southern Manchuria under the reign of Wi (衛) and Ch’in (晋) dy nasty. The fifth part describes the ruling over Manchuria by the Kokuryo dynasty together with the struggle for owner-ship of Manchuria between the Kokuryo and Chinese powers. T he last part provides insights into the changes occuring by the ruin of the Kokuryo dynasty. (To be continued)
