This article analyzes the families that appear on the chokpo of the Soangŏng(昭安公) and Kangwŏn’baek(江原伯) lines of the Koryŏng Sins (高靈申氏) by the methods of vital statistics. As a result, the following fads about the family sizes of the Koryŏng Sins(高靈申氏) have been found out: 1. On average, the head of a family had his first son when he was 29.97 years old, and his spouse had her first child at the age of 26.27. This fact suggests the need to reconsider the established view that the custom of early maniage prevailed in late Choson period. 2. It can be said that monogamy was dominant in late Chosŏn, based on the fact that 84.1 percents of the families were monogamous. 3. The families had a tendency to obtain spouses from a certain group of families, with 42.2 percents of the maniages taking place with the thirteen largest families in Korea. 4. 85 percents of all the families had one to three adult sons. 5. The number of the adult sons in each family was 1.8 in average; therefore, the number of adult children per family presumably averaged 3.7. 6. The average life span of adult males of the Koryŏng Sins was 57.33 years and that of adult females 62.25. 7. The longevity of the Koryŏng Sins as a whole is proved by the fact that 48.6 percents of its adult males and 61.9 percents of its adult females lived up to over sixty years old.
