The Mode of Existence at Yong-In Region in the Era of Han-Sung Paekche

The chiefdoms which could be supposed to existe at Yong-In, Su-Won and Fa-Sung region in the Northern Ma-Han are found among the Sokrobulsa-kuk(速盧不斯國), Ilwha-kuk(日華國) or Gotanja-kuk(古誕者國). And Yong-In region was from the early time integrated to Paekche, and became one of the regional administrative units. In Yong-In(comprising Su-won and Fa-sung) was set up the Western District under the five District system(五部制) in Paekche. Then the center of Yong-in was located in Gu-sung(駒城邑), Gi-hung (器興邑) and Su-Zi(水枝邑). The control or domination capability of Paekche State to this Yong-in region was miximanized especially from the second part of the 4C A.D. And this fact is related to the militarization of this region against the military pressure of Koguryo which was increased from 4C~5C A.D. The autonomy of the individual family life and the level of family farming was not yet developed at that time in this region. And because of the various conditions including the Paekche’s state power, the general life of the residents in this region was relatively poor and tiresome. In 475 A.D. Koguryo made their military base, the province of Gu-sung(駒城縣) around the Gu-Sung(駒城邑）, Gi-hung(器興邑) and Su-Zi(水枝邑).
