The purpose of this study is to show a true meaning of education, along with scientific support, to emphasize the use of the whole brain and to show the importance of music education from a holistic point of view. Holistic education nurtures the development of the whole person and is sensitive to both right and left brain learning. It is concerned with the innate/personal potentials, i.e., intellectual, emotional, social, physical, creative, intuitive, aesthetic and spiritual potentials. It acknowledges that intelligence is multi-dimensional. It has been believed that musical ability is associated with the type of thinking in the right. But the right brain is not solely responsible for all musical abilities. The musical mind functions with the whole brain. Music education, like holistic education, is a process for cultivating the whole person and helps th development of the whole brain. This study tries to show that music education is one of the best ways to develop one’s cognitive, emotional, moral, aesthetic, creative and social potentials. Music education is comprehensive education.
