陰陽五行的 觀點에서 본 韓國의 飮食文化

Korean Dietary Culture in Sight of Eum-Yang-O-Hang (陰陽五行)

This study was investigated Korean Dietary Culture in sight of Eum-Yang-O-Hang (陰陽五行). The findings are as follows; 1. Ssalbab(boiled plain rice), Jabgokbab(boiled rice with mixed grain) and Ogokbab(boiled rice with five grains), the main dish of Korean traditional diet means a character of the earth(上) and O-Hang(五行). And we can find a figure of Eum-Yang-O-Hang(陰陽五行), Ssumbagui(씀바귀) and green tea taste bitter, and Omijacha(五味子茶) taste sour, Kimchi(김치). Ib-Chun-O-Shin-Ban(立春五辛盤), buckwheat food what has five color(五方色), alcohol drink what has a harmony of Eum-Yang(陰陽), fruits what fill up spirits of human body. Bibimbap(비빔밥), funeral food, means Eum-Yang. 2. In Korean traditional table setting, the table involve a harmony of Eum-Yang harmonize symbols of Yang(陽) circular table using woods, ware and symbols of Eum(陰) of long shape spoons. The number of food in table keeps odd number(Ki-Su:奇數), it means Yang also. And various food and taste harmonize spirits of O-Hang. 3. In funeral food, even kind of food involve each harmony of Eum-Yang and O-Hang. 4. Each ceremony of life cycle, special food, red pepper, Baek-Sul-Ki(백설기) and red beans prevent unfortunate thing as Eum-Yang. 5. The food of seasons is reinforcement during each seasons as Eum-Yang-O-Hang, in th e hottest day in summer(Bok-day). we eat lean meat of dog. And Dong-Ji(冬至) in winter, we eat rice gruel boiled together with red beans. 6. we can find a sight of Eum-Yang-O-Hang well in relationship with color, taste, food of seasons. Temperance and taboo of food means relationship of five taste(五味) and disease. So, we can find Korean dietary culture as a sight of Eum-Yang-O-Hang, kinds of food, taste, color, seasons, and life cycle ceremony.
