This study asks about the practice of food consumption by Muslim population in the context of today's Korean society. As the starting point, the food environment in Korea, especially with its food culture on the perspective of meat consumption and social behavior of food in general, was examined. As the main part of the study, I researched on the practice of Muslim migrant laborers and other parts of Muslims living in Korea, especially concerned with the Islamic concept of 'halal' and 'haram'. At the same time, halal food supply system, partialy connected with more global networks, was studied. The subjects in detail are folloows: a. everyday life and practice of food consumption for Muslim populations in todays' Korea b. food practice related with the concept of 'halal' for Korean Muslims in particular c. evolution of halal food supply system in recent history of Korea d. influence and meaning of halal food consumptions practiced by various population groups in the globalized world
