미국, EU 시장에서 아시아 경쟁국가와의 디지털 재화 경쟁구조 분석

An Analysis on the Competitive Structure of Major Asian Countries’ Digital Products in the USA and EU Markets

This study makes an general analysis on the status of Korean and some other major asian counries’ digital products in the USA and EU markets. Through UN Comtrade Database, major Asian 8 countries’ changes in competitiveness and competitive structure in the USA and EU markets are calculated in this research. The target countries for this analysis include Korea, China, Japan, Hongkong, Singapore, Thailand, India, Malaysia, and the period is set for the decade from 2000 to 2009. The annual changes in the indexes of each country are investigated through the trade structure of digital products and TSI, RCA, ESI, CMS in the USA and EU markets. This analysis shows that TSI and RCA in all the products of China, Japan, Hongkong and Singapore have comparative advantages, while the indices in those of Korea, Thailand, India, and Malaysia have comparative disadvantages. In ESI, Korea show strong competition relation with Japan, and less with China and Hongkong in both markets. The analysis of CMS of Korea reveals that competitiveness factor isn’t clear and product supply structure factor is getting stronger in recent. Seen from the wide spreading and rapid evolving of Electronic Commerce, this timely study can improve the understanding of competitiveness strengthening in digital product and contents industry and the resulting industrial structure.
