A Study on the Managerial Performance of Logistics Industry

물류산업의 경영성과에 관한 연구

물류산업은 물류 서비스를 제공받는 기업 고객의 니즈에 따라 서비스 수요가 발생하게 되는 특성을 가진다.다시 말해 물류산업은 조달,생산, 판매 등 기업의 제반 경영활동을 지원하는 서비스산업이라는 특성을 가지고 있다. 앞으로 우리나라 경제가 더욱 성장,발전하면서 국가 산업 활동 또한 고도화될 것으로 전망되고 있다.그에 따라 고부가가치 물류 서비스에 대한 각 산업부문에서의 수요는 양적인 증가는 물론 질적으로도 더욱 높아질 것으로 전망되고 있다. 그런데 이와 같은 국가 경제 및 산업부문의 상황 변화를 적절히 수용하기에는 우리나라 물류기업의 서비스 제공 역량이 매우 미흡한 실정이다. 이와 함께 중장기적으로는 우리나라는 물론 글로벌 차원에서 녹색 물류 수요가 크게 증가할 것이다. 이러한 상황 변화에 제대로 적응함으로써 국가 경제의 성장과 발전 대열에서 낙오되지 않기 위해서는 물류산업의 빠른 발전이 요구되고 있다. 아울러 국가 산업 활동 고도화에 따라 그 중요성이 더욱 높아가고 있는 우리나라 물류산업의 발전을 위한 정부 정책의 중요성도 그만큼 높아지고 있는 상황이다. 본 논문은 우선 한국은행에서 발간하는 기업경영분석 자료와 몇 가지 물류산업 실태조사 결과에 근거하여 우리나라 물류기업의 경영 성과를 성장성 지표, 수익성 지표, 안정성 지표 등 다양한 분석 지표를 활용하여 다각적으로 분석하고 있다. 이러한 실증분석 결과를 기초로 하여 우리나라 물류 활동의 활성화와 물류산업의 고도화 및 발전을 도모할 수 있는 정책적 제안들 또한 제시되고 있다.

A unique characteristics of logistics industry is that industry’s demand is created by customers’ needs through supporting other industries’ management activities such as outsourcing, production and sales. As the Korean industries develop further, it is natural that the demand for the higher value-added logistics activities will increase accordingly. At the same time, the demand for green logistics will also rise rapidly. However, in these respects, service proving capabilities of the Korean logistics industry is still very much limited. The Korean logistics industry needs a rapid development to accommodate these environmental changes. Government policy measures for the purpose should be implemented appropriately to address the ever growing importance of logistics industry in the national economic activities. This paper analyses current situation of the Korean logistics industry based on Bank of Korea’s Financial Statement Analysis and a few field survey results. Based on the analysis of managerial performance of the logistics firms, some policy recommendations are suggested for further development of the industry.
