The Formation of the Social Innovation Cluster : Centering on the USA & Japan Clusters

서구와 일본에서 사회적 혁신 클러스터는 사회적 문제에 대한 효율적인 대응으로서 주목받고 있는 중이다. 사회적 혁신은 다양한 방식으로 추구되고 있지만, 보다 의도적인 집합적인 노력들에 의해 이루어지는 형태가 사회적 혁신 클러스터이다. 서구에서 사회적 혁신 클러스터는 다양한 방식으로 공헌하여 왔다; 사회적 책임 운동의 중요한 거점, 기업과 시민사회조직들 간의 파트너십 제도화, 새로운 사회적 기업 모델 창출, 벤처 자선 확대의 근거지, 새로운 성과지표의 개발. 한국 사회에서 사회혁신에 대한 관심은 아직 낮지만, 점차 복잡해져 가는 사회문제들에 대해 시민사회부문의 능력 강화를 통한 사회 혁신을 강화하기 위해서는 보다 의도적이고 집합적인 노력 형태의 사회적 혁신 클러스터를 발전시킬 필요가 있다.

The idea of Social Innovation Cluster(SIC) in the industrialized countries is being highlighted. SIC has dealt effectively with various social problems. There have been various approaches in creating and diffusing social innovation, but what distinguishes SIC from other approaches is its purposeful and collective nature. There has been increasing concern about social innovation in Korea, but little attention is paid to collective effort for social innovation. However, it is necessary for Korean society to develop a social innovation cluster in order to enhance innovative capacity backed up by civil sector’s voluntary networks.
