The large amount of private educational costs which are not in formal edueation system are one of the major educational Issues in Korea. This paper probes the private edueational costs in the presence of private schools. The results are us follows. First, the presence of private schools reduces the private educational costs and inereases consumer surplus. Second, the inereased spendin on publie education may not reduce the private educational cost when private schools exist. Finally, private education is efficient when the cost of private education is less than that of public school.
