Cost Benefit Analysis on Customs Clearance Regulatory Reform and EDI System Connection

This study attempts to estimate economic cost and benefit from customs clearance regulatory reform and EDI system connection. The evaluation model was explained in detail by employing the cost-benefit analysis to pull out the cost savings effect in monetary term. Economic benefits are mainly estimated by measuring the time savings in the regulatory reform and connection of EDI system. These time saving are calculated into cost savings by average wages. Economic costs are mainly estimated by measuring the costs in EDI system connection and maintenance. The estimation shows that burden eased 1 trillion and 1,327 billion Korean Won over the period of 1999-2003.
