This paper examines the effects of loss offset on the labor market under uncertainty. The model includes the possibility of partial loss offset. While the effects of the degree of loss offset on the equilibrium size of firms and firm formation are ambiguous, the equilibrium level of welfare will be unambiguously higher if loss offset increases. It should be pointed out that regardless of the degree of loss offset an individual labor demand curve is not always downward sloping.
