중국 신재생에너지산업의 성장과 한국기업에게 주는 시사점

The Growth of China’s Renewable Energy Industry and Its Implication for Korean Firms

급증하는 에너지 수요에 직면한 중국은 지금까지 화석연료에 의존한 경제성장을 추구해왔다. 그러나 중국의 놀라운 경제성장 이면에는 화석연료의 사용으로 인한 자연환경의 파괴라는 어두운 면이 존재한다. 이에 중국이 앞으로도 지속적인 경제성장을 위해 환경을 희생시킬 것이라는 국제사회의 우려가 급증하고 있다. 이런 우려에 대응하여, 중국은 현재 신재생에너지의 사용을 늘리는 경제정책으로 전환중이다. 특히 신재생에너지 중에서 풍력발전의 경우가 가장 많이 발전했는데, 최근 미국 다음인 2위로 그 발전량이 계속 증가추세이다. 태양광은 아직 시범적 운용수준이지만, 관련제품 생산기지로서 중국은 세계 3위이다. 수력발전은 건설기간이 길어서 상대적으로 설비 증가율은 정체되어 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 중국의 신재생에너지산업의 발전현황과 향후 전망을 살펴보고, 이로부터 한국기업들을 위한 시사점을 도출하는 것이다.

China, with its growing population and ever-increasing need for energy, used to be heavily dependent on fossil fuel. Stunning economic growth has been achieved at the cost of severe degradation of the natural environment. There is widespread concern in the international community that China would sacrifice the environment to maintain its economic growth. With the largest population, China can make a huge contribution if it achieves sustainable, green growth. In response to the international community’s concern, China’s economic growth paradigm is shifting to the use of new renewable energy resources, of which, wind resources are mostly developed in China. China’s electricity generation through wind power is increasing, next to the U.S. However, China’s photovoltaic power generation is in the beginning, although China serves as a production base for world photovoltaic industry. Water power generation in China is slowly increasing because of a long construction period. The purpose of the paper is to examine the status of China’s renewable energy resource industry and its implication for Korean firms.
