인터넷 기술의 본연적 특성이 기술수용에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

The Impact of Intrinsic Characteristics of Internet Technology on Technology Acceptance

본 연구의 목적은 기술이 확산되기 위해 필요한 특성들이 무엇인지를 이해하는데 있다. 이를 위해 사회경제적으로 가장 큰 영향을 미친 인터넷 본연의 기술적 특성이 무엇인지를 제시하고, 이러한 특성들이 기업의 기술수용에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 살펴보았다. 이 과정에서 기존 연구에서 간과되었던 인터넷 본연의 기술적 특성을 제시하기 위해 범용기술에 관한 연구들을 토대로 기술수용모형에서 제시된 심리적 변수들을 적용한 연구모형을 개발하고 실증분석 했다. 분석결과 범용기술 연구들에서 제시하고 있는 인터넷 본연의 기술적 특성들인 보급성, 향상성, 혁신독려성 특성이 기술수용자의 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 국내에서 아직 많은 연구가 이뤄지고 있지 않은 범용기술에 대한 개념을 소개하고, 기업수준에서 범용기술을 수용할 때 고려해야하는 주요 선행변수를 구체적으로 제시함으로서 범용기술에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히는데 공헌하고 있다.

The purpose of current study is to understand the characteristics of a technology that are influential in the process of technology diffusion across the firms in industry. We identify and suggest technicological characteristics of an internet technology which has shown pervasive socio-economic impact on our society, and study how the characteristics influence the firms’ acceptance of the technology. In order to identify technological characteristics that were not discussed by existing studies on internet technology, we have developed and tested a model that is based on researches on general-purpose technologies and psychological factors in the technology acceptance model(TAM). Our results suggest that technological characteristics such as pervasiveness, potential for improvement, and possibility of innovation spawning positively influence the attitudes of users of the technology. The current study contributes to the literature by introducing the notion of general-purpose technology and by enhancing the firms’ understanding of it through suggesting significant technological characteristics the firms need to consider when they adopt a general purpose technology.
