Culinary tourism refers to trips made to particular destinations where the local food and beverages are the main motivating factors for travel. The market for culinary tourism in India is growing as the country’s traditions continue to gain increasing international attentions. Culinary tourism is becoming an important attribute in the development of niche travels. Most of the tourists eat out when travelling and dining is consistently one of the top priorities that attracts. Nevertheless to say that culinary art is the only art form that stimulates all 5 human senses (touch, taste, sound, smell and sight). Udupi is a land of temples, and a home to a multidimensional cultures resulting in a variety of food traditions. The cultural Heritage of South Kanara is vibrant mosaic of lively and magnificent colours. The culture of Udupi encompasses a unique blend of food, fashion, festival, dance and music that spell bounds the four corners of the world in its euphoric nature. This paper will examine connections between local food ways, tourism, globalization, and identifying inadequacies, efficiencies and potential improvements in the gastronomic life of different communities of Udupi. Research with this innovative conceptual framework and methodology focus on how these communities can evolve socially and economically in their life.
