서양 고지도에 표현된 한중국경 및 만주

The Border between Korea and China and Manchuria on Old Western Maps on Tmeccakorea’s Website

본 연구에서는 티메카코리아웹사이트 (www.tmecca.co.kr)에서 서비스하고 있는 17~19세기에 제작된 498종의 서양의 고지도에 한국과 중국의 경계 및 만주지역이 어떻게 표현되어 있는지를 고찰하였다. 기존 연구에서는 서양 고지도에 표현된 한·중 경계를 레지선(Regis선), 당빌선(d’Anville선), 본느선(Bonne선)으로 분류해 왔다. 본 연구에서는 6가지 유형을 추가해 1) 압록강·두만강 경계 유형, 2) 레지(Regis)선 경계유형, 3) 당빌(d’Anville)선 경계 유형, 4) 타듀(Tardieu)선 경계 유형, 5) 보웬(Bowen)선 경계 유형, 6) 본느(Bonne)선 경계 유형, 7) 티즈데일(Teesdale)선 경계 유형, 8) 봉금지역 표시 경계 유형, 9) 국경 표시가 없는 유형 등 총 9가지로 유형을 세분화하고 재분류해, 서양 고지도에 표현된 한국과 중국의 국경지대 및 만주 지역에 대한 다양한 경계표현을 확인하였다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the interest in the Korean and Chinese border is expressed in western old maps that were produced in 17th~19th centuries. 498 types of old maps used in this study are being serviced on the website of TMECCA(www.tmecca.co.kr). To study the border between Korea and China on these maps, we analyzed based on segmentalized borders by utilizing the existing categories including Regis, d’Anville, and Bonne, and added our own additional standards. As a result there can be reclassified into nine types of borders : 1) Amnokgang-Dumangang boundary type, 2 ) Regis’ line boundary type, 3) d’Anville line boundary type, 4) Tardieu line boundary type, 5) Bowen line boundary type, 6) Bonne line boundary type, 7) Teesdale line boundary type, 8) neutral boundary type. 9) maps without border line type.
