삼례도찰방역의 경관 변화

The Change of Landscapes of the Samre Chalbang(察訪) Postal Station in Chollabuk-do

본고는 삼례도찰방역의 경관 변화를 알고자 하였다. 이를 위해 그 경관의 복원은 물론, 새로운 교통 수단이 찰방역의 기능에 준 영향을 살펴보았다. 삼례도찰방역은 현재 삼례동부교회 일대로 약 2ha의 면적에 해당하였다. 이곳은 일본인 소학교로 이용되다가 광복 후에 교회로 이용되고 있다. 삼례도찰방역의 7개 건물들 가운데 본청인 德流堂은 평면도를 복원하였으며, 말에게 제사지내던 馬神堂은 교회 뒤편의 언덕으로 추정된다. 역원촌락의 인구는 약 1,000명 내외였으며, 정기시장이 현재까지 계승되고 있다. 삼례도찰방역 소유의 토지(驛田)는 약 400ha로, 동쪽으로는 봉동읍과의 경계까지, 남쪽으로는 만경강의 저지대까지였다. 그런데 일제강점기 초기에 철도교통이 도입되면서 삼례철도역이 찰방역을 대신하여 중심지로서의 역할을 하였다. 또 최근에는 삼례를 경유하는 3개의 고속국도가 건설되면서 버스터미널 부근이 새로운 중심지가 되고 있다.

Samre Chalbang(察訪) was one of the headquarters of the regional postal network system in North Cholla Province. The purpose of this study is to examine how its landscape has changed. For this, its original landscape is restored through referring to the literature and how the new transportation system influence on its landscape is researched. Chalbang postal station was located in the site where Samre Dongbu Church is placed now and it had an area of 2 hectares. It was used as Japanese elementary school and it has been used as a church since Korea gained Independence. Among seven buildings in Chalbang postal station, the ground plan of the main building, Duckryu-Dang(德流堂) is sketched. And the hill in the back side of the church is assumed as the building, Masin-Dang(馬神堂), a temple dedicated to horses. The population of Yeokchon, villages where the postal station was located, was about 1,000. Chalbang postal station owned 400 hectares of land and the landholding of postal station was bordered to the east by Bongdong-Eup to the south by Mankyeong River according to the land registration map. As the transportation system was changed, the mid-town area was also changed. When railroad traffic was introduced in the beginning of Japanese ruling era, Samre railroad station substituted for the central place. And as three highways were constructed recently, the intercity bus terminal is substituting for the central place instead of the railroad station. The periodic market around the postal station was moved to the terminal and is being continued until now.
