China has become an important OFDI country. Traditional theory of FDI such as Dunning’s OLI paradigm can well explain the motivations and locations choice of developed countries. China is an emerging market and developing country, Can traditional theory be applied to explain the motivation and location choice of China’s OFDI? Instead of empirical test, our analysis is based on the study of historical trend of China OFDI and the interplay of the motivations and location choice. We find that the traditional theories can explain China’s case to a large extent with some adaption.
