An Establishment of Factors for Selecting Terminal Operating Companies

In Korea, a continuous port development has been important to secure port competitiveness and national economy growth. Moreover, a selection of optimal terminal operator that can properly operate port and terminal development is critical issue to port stake-holders. In this respect, the aim of this study is to suggest a combined evaluation criteria which can be used to select terminal operator. This study suggests 11 sub criteria and 3 key factors for selecting terminal operator by using the Factor Analysis(FA). For weighing the factors, the fuzzy-AHP methodology was adopted. As the results, ‘attracting plan of cargo (0.223)’ is selected as the most important variable, and ‘operating experience of terminal (0.182)’ and ‘handled cargo volumes (0.170)’ are followed.
