Geographic Profiling and Policing

지리학적 프로파일링은 범죄발생지역을 중심으로 범죄자의 활동지역 및 거주지역과의 지역적인 관계성을 분석하여 범죄자가 거주하거나 활동하는 지역을 분석하는 기법으로서 일상활동이론과 반경이론에 근거하고 있다. 지리학적 프로파일링은 미국 연방수사국(FBI)에서 범죄 수사에 적극 활용하고 있다. 우리나라도 외국의 선진 수사기법을 도입하여 적극 활용하여야 하는 필요성에 의해 현재 우리나라에서는 관련 프로그램이 2009년 3월부터 시행되어 큰 성과를 이루고 있다. 그러나 외국 및 기타 선진국과 달리 한국형 지리학적 프로파일링 프로그램이 아직 부족한 실정이며, 전문 인력 또한 부족하다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 지리학적 프로파일링을 활용한 경찰활동 활성화 방안에 대해 논의를 진행하였다.

But Korean geographical profiling program is still lacking unlike other countries, it is a lack of expertise. Professional manpower for these problems, using geographic profiling, such as the police on how to strengthen the activities proposed.
