American Cultural Codes tram Value Dimensional Perspectives - Behavioral Patterns 01 the Past and Present -

This paper analyzes various codes that shape American culture from the perspective of value dimensions. First, I examined the theories presented by scholars who have studied in the related fields. Employing their findings as reference and keeping their merits and short comings in mind, then, I extracted ten codes of American culture using both of the dimensional and metaphorical approaches. They include individualism love of freedom equalitarianism. Legalism, multiculturalism, Puritan spirits, frontier spirits, pragmatism, belief in science and technology, and belief in the future. I examined how these cultural codes became molded in social environment and historical context. These various codes are mixed in diverse patterns. I found, to form the traits Particular to American culture, such as optimistic, dynamic, tolerant, and adventurous characteristics.
