A study on acquisition of tense and aspect appeared in narrative discourse of Japanese learners of Korean

This study ha that after examining Discourse Hypothesis which revealed relation between narrative structure and tense-aspect it examines overall whether to apply hypothesis and using patterns of tense-aspect morphology as its object. On this study, to investigate using conditions of tense-aspect appeared in narrative discourse of Japanese learners of Korean, I collected data through story-rewriting task and intended to figure out difference by setting up native speakers as a comparative group. So, I intended to analyze whether differences in learners' use of tense-aspect exist according to narrative structure and examined changing patterns according to improvement of proficiency levels in using tense morpheme. Also, I intended to interpret learners' using patterns of tense-aspect by investigating whether distribution of lexical aspect varies according to narrative structure. According to the results, learners present differences in using tense aspect to distinguish foreground and background. Especially, in foreground using rate of past tense was high and in background various using patterns of tense were identified. In an aspect of using rate of tense-aspect, differences between high-ranking learners and low-ranking learners could not be identified and using patterns of high-ranking learners and native speakers were similar only in foreground. All lexical aspects showed significant differences in distribution according to narrative structure and I can identify the correlation between distribution of tense-aspect and, division criteria of narrative structure and three semantic features of lexical aspect in an aspect of temporality.
