Since the emergence of ancient Greek philosophy, it is one of the traditions of western political philosophy for great philosophers to attempt to establish a theory of ideal state. For example such philosophers as Socrates, Plato. Aristotle. Hobbes. Locke, Montosouieu, and Rousseau propose their own theories of ideal state. But their ideal states exist not in reality but in logos or reason. The birth of American state and its constitution is an epoch-making historical event because is shows the first historical case of making a state on the basis of human reason or human rationality. The Federalist shows how the various speculations of idea state tome into being realized in the design of the constitution. The American constitution is a rational political construction. We must remember that in its making influence the theories of ancient and modern political philosophers. Without knowing them, we cannot catch the deeper meaning of ‘rational construction’. This paper aims at exploring the political ideas which affect the constitutional debates appeared in The Federalist.
