A Study on Competitive Advantage Strategy for PyeongTaek · Dangjin Port

최근에 해운 • 항만산업은 세계화와 같은 커다란 변화에 직면해 있다. 변화하는 기업환경에 대처하기 위해 선사들은 규모의 경제를 추구하고 있으며, 또한 화주들의 요구에 효과적인 중심항 전략으로 대처하고 있다. 한편 컨테이너항만 또한 항만간 경쟁이 심화되고 있으며, 특히 이러한 상황은 동북아지역에서 더욱 치열하게 전개되고 있다. 평택 • 당진항의 경우 여러 가지 장점에도 불구하고 항만시설, 운영, 전략 등과 같은 항만간 경쟁에 영향을 미치는 요인들이 상당히 열악한 상태이다. 따라서 이 논문의 목적은 선사와 화주의 항만선택에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 기존연구와 설문조사를 종합하여 추출해 내고 이용학주들의 항만 선호도의 차이를 규명함으로써 선사 및 화주유인 증대를 위한 성공요인을 도출 하여 중소항만인 평택 • 당진항의 경쟁우위전략과 개발방향을 제시하는데 있다.

Recently, maritime and port industries are confronted with enormous changes like globalization. To cope with this changing business environment, liners have pursued economies of scale, and they also have dealt with shippers' requirements with efficiency of their Hub and Spoke system. On the other hand, today's container ports are also perplexed facing severe port competition. Especially liners' hub and spoke strategy becomes one of important factors which increasing competition between ports. Such a situation can be more vividly found in the North-east Asian region, in which new port developments are progress in line with economic development in a large scale. PyungTaek • DangJin port situated at the northeast part of Korea and close to Metropolitan area geographically has considerably deteriorated its competition with Incheon port. The major objectives of the studies are to find out what factors affect the port selection to be called on by liners and shippers and then strategic implications based on analysis are suggested for competitive advantage strategy and development plan by PyungTaek • DangJin port.
