대중국 화물처리에 따른 국내 항만의 품목별 경쟁력 및 상호 경합성 / 보완성 연구

A Study on the Competitiveness and Substitutability/Complementarity Relation among Domestic Ports Based on the China-Korea Trade

최근 중국경제의 급성장에 따라 중국은 우리나라의 주교역대상국이 되었고 대중국교역의 관문인 항만의 중요성이 부각되고 국내의 지방정부들은 관할구역내 항만을 대중국수출입 관문으로 육성하기 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이는 지역경제에 미치는 효과가 크다는 긍정적인 측면도 있으나 항만의 기능에 대한 차별성이 없어 과잉투자의 부정적인 시각도 적지 않다 따라서 본 논문의 목적은 국내 중요항만 간의 기능제고를 위한 가이드라인을 제시하기 위해 각 품목별 항만들의 경쟁력을 분석하고, 항만 상호간 품목별 경합성 및 보완성을 분석하였다. 분석결과 부산항 중심의 물동량 점유율에도 불구하고, 항만간 품목별 경쟁력은 중국과의 거리 및 기반시설 공급 수준에 따라 다양하게 나타나고, 상호 보완성/경합성도 항만의 지리적 위치에 영향을 받고 있음을 확인하였다.

With the growth of Chinese economy, China becomes one of the most important nations at the international trade in Korea. Accordingly the ports of the west-sea area in korea is getting more important. Recently, the provincial government in Korea has put all her efforts to realize an ambitious plan turning herself a Logistics Hub in Northeast Asia. There are two kinds of views of their plan. First is more positive view which is based on the local economic growth. Second is more critical view which is about overinvestment without functions of ports to be constructed. The purpose of this paper is to draw a guideline for functions of among four ports in Korea, e.g. Incheon port, Pyeongtaek port, Busan port, and Gwangyang port. For it, this study analyzes the competitiveness of the ports on the trade of articles from ten industries. Also, it shows the relationships of the substitutability and complementarity of the domestic ports. Based on an index designed in this paper, we find out the facts that Incheon is the most competitive port and that Pyeongtaek is losing its competitiveness due to the competent relationship with Incheon, whereas Busan has the complementary function with Incheon.
