전맹 대학생의 컴퓨터 작업 수행능력 향상을 위한 화면읽기 프로그램 활용도 및 만족도 분석

An Analysis of Screen Reader Usage and Satisfaction Level on Improving Blind College Students' Computer Work

본 연구의 목적은 시각장애인이 컴퓨터 작업을 하기 위해 사용하는 화면읽기 프로그램의 활용도와 만족도를 분석하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 집중적인 컴퓨터 사용이 필요한 전맹 대학생 8명을 대상으로 연구를 실시하였다. 화면읽기 프로그램의 활용도 분석 결과, 전맹 대학생들은 동영상, 표 작성, 문서편집을 하는데 어려움을 보였다. 만족도 분석 결과에서는, 정보의 충분성 만족도에 대하여 평균 4.34점으로 높은 점수를 나타냈다. 또한, 화면읽기 프로그램 사용능력에 따라 화면읽기 프로그램 활용수준에 영향을 미치는 것으로 관찰되었다. 향후 보다 많은 연구 대상자의 확보와 화면읽기 프로그램 자체의 사용성 평가가 이루어지고 화면읽기 프로그램 버전별 비교분석을 통해 화면읽기 프로그램의 개선점을 도출해야 할 것이다.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate and analyze the usage and satisfaction level of Sense Reader Professional Full Edition (X-Vision Technology, Inc.), a screen reader that is used the mose by blind persons for their computer work in Korea. To do so, eight blind students at N University in Korea were selected on purpose in the study. As a result, Sense Reader Professional Full Edition was found difficult to play video clips, to create tables and to edit documents. The satisfaction level on information sufficiency was much high as of 4.34 points, respectively. Also, the participants' ability of using Sense Reader Professional Full Edition was shown to affect the usage level of it. For future research, more number of participants should be involved to improve validity and reliability in investigating and upgrading the functions of Sense Reader.
